According to a recent study by the Hamburg-Eppendorf University Hospital, the regular statements made by Federal Health Minister Karl Lauterbach must be viewed in a differentiated manner. According to the evaluation of available data, only 46 percent of the deceased recorded in the RKI statistics as corona deaths actually died of corona.
In his most recent interview, Federal Minister of Health Lauterbach again uses the numbers of alleged corona deaths as justification for the forthcoming specifications of further measures by the government in the coming autumn. On the other hand, reports picture on sunday (BamS) with reference to a study by the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) of possible misinterpretations of the numbers used. That’s what it says in the headline Articles (behind a payment barrier):
“Study on corona deaths – every second person did not die of omicron!”
According to the UKE data, during the omicron wave since the beginning of this year, only 46 percent of the people who were recorded as corona deaths in the statistics of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) actually died of corona. With the delta variant of the Coroan virus, the numbers determined were still 85 percent. Stefan Kluge is quoted as saying:
“This means that only around half of the “corona deaths” reported to the RKI actually fell victim to the virus when omicron appeared.”
Lauterbach argues in his current Interview for The world (also payment barrier) with the supposed knowledge that the “Corona autumn will not be a bed of roses”. In addition, he again uses alleged data from Corona deceased as an argumentative means of pressure:
“So we are facing difficult times. We already have between 100 and 150 corona deaths a day. My concern is that this number could rise. That is not justifiable. We must therefore be well prepared.”
Since the beginning of the corona crisis in spring 2020, responsible politicians and scientists have demonstrably not managed or found it important to initiate corresponding differentiating studies that would have provided clear insights into whether many people were really affected by or “only with” corona are deceased. To date, the situation remains that “all deaths with corona disease at the UKE are included in the death statistics of the RKI – even those for whom corona was only an incidental finding,” according to the information in the article.
Prof. Kluge explained to the Bild newspaperonly very rarely someone dies from omicron who is vaccinated and has no additional risk factors, to differentiate literally:
“Risk factors are: a very old age and therapies that are used in cancer, organ transplants or rheumatism to suppress the immune system.”
A differentiating distinction “between Covid-19 as the main and secondary diagnosis” is therefore loudly required picture article also Prof. Michael Albrecht from the University Hospital Dresden, since the death statistics continue to have “no clear database”. In the Study The UKE scientists considered 227 patients “who died in the UKE from March 2020 up to and including April 2022 from or with a SARS-CoV-2 infection and in whom a virus typing had been carried out”. This is what the publication says:
“The rate of patients who died from a SARS-CoV-2 infection was 85 percent (wild type), 94 percent (alpha), 82 percent (delta) and 46 percent (omicron) for the individual virus subtypes.”
Among those infected with the omicron subtype, “the proportion of vaccinated or boosted deceased was 41 percent”, all of whom had risk factors for a severe course of COVID-19. Above all, “mortality among vaccinated people without risk factors would have decreased significantly”. According to the results, “in the UKE, no vaccinated person died without risk factors” from the omicron subtype.
The press office of the Federal Minister of Health replied to a corresponding one Bild-Question about the results of the UKE study only that “his house is working together with the RKI on new, daily updated queries from the hospitals”. A conclusion is therefore “imminent”.
