The French government on Wednesday apologized to Liverpool fans following the chaos surrounding Saturday’s Champions League final in Paris.
“Could we have done better?” said Olivia Gregory, a spokeswoman for the French government, after the cabinet meeting. Yes, President Emmanuel Macron wants a transparent report on the chaos.
Gregory indicated that two investigations are currently underway, with the aim of avoiding what happened on Saturday in the 2024 Olympic Games, which will be hosted by the French capital.
BFM reported that Macron was angry with Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin for initially blaming Liverpool supporters.
The French authorities blamed the Liverpool fans, saying that the fake tickets they obtained were the cause of the chaos, which led to the delay of the start of the match by more than half an hour.
