Among all the Arab fairs that have grown remarkably in the Arab world in terms of quantity, quality and openness to the world is the Sharjah International Book Fair, which this year concluded its fortieth season.
In this regard, the head of the Sharjah Book Authority, Ahmed Al-Amiri, said that he was one of the children eager to visit the Sharjah Book Fair annually. I loved books because I was in contact with them, and this is what the Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan Al Qasimi, wants. He wants children to familiarize themselves with books, paper and ink.
Then he added in the “Rawafed” program, saying that the Sharjah Book Fair began in 1982 and 50 publishers attended at the expense of the Ruler of Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan. All books in the exhibition are “as mentioned”.
Then the guest talked about the importance of the Sharjah International Book Fair, stressing that he did not expect the fair to continue to this day, as it has become the third most important book fair in the world and is visited by about one million and 800 visitors, and sales have exceeded 40 million US dollars.
