Milan defeated its host Empoli 4-2, on Wednesday, in the 19th stage of the Italian Football League.
Milan, who lost and tied in their last two matches in the competition, raised their score to 42 points to climb to second place, four points behind their arch-rivals Inter Milan, the leader in the standings.
On the other hand, Empoli’s balance froze at 27 points in tenth place.
Milan advanced through Frank Kessie in the 12th minute, before Nadim Bayrami equalized for Empoli in the 18th minute.
In the 42nd minute, Frank Casey scored the second goal for him and Milan, before Alessandro Florenzi added the third goal in the 63rd minute, and six minutes later Theo Hernandez scored the fourth goal.
In the 84th minute, Andrea Pinamonti scored Empoli’s second goal from a penalty kick.
Milan rose to second place, taking advantage of Napoli’s stumble, who lost 0-1 to Spezia at home.
This became the fourth loss in a row for Napoli at home, after losing in the last two games against Atalanta, Empoli and Milan, to freeze his balance at 39 points in third place, while Spezia raised his score to 16 points in 17th place.
Jesus of Naples scored the only goal of the match by an own goal for Spezia.
