The case of the medical professor Sönnichsen, whom MedUni Vienna has terminated, could now probably concern the courts in Austria. Sönnichsen, who appeared in Austria through criticism of Corona measures, is said to have taken “legal action” against the dismissal.
The termination of the employment relationship, which will take effect on February 28, 2022, has nothing to do with the public statements made by its professor Andreas Sönnichsen, the Medical University of Vienna recently announced. Accordingly, the reason lies in the disregard of the coronavirus guidelines set in-house. The head of the Department of General and Family Medicine at the Center for Public Health was also released immediately.

But the case of Andreas Sönnichsen and the Medical University of Vienna could soon occupy the courts in Austria. Sönnichsen is said to have taken action against the dismissal “as a lawyer”.
An email that Sönnichsen is said to have sent to friends and that Stefan Homburg, Professor of Public Finance, shared via the short message service Twitter shows that the medical professor had taken legal action against his termination.
From the divided letter it emerges that Sönnichsen is already acting “as a lawyer” against “the reputation-damaging lies as well as against the dismissal”.
The university had already publicly disapproved of the statements of its professor in the past distant. It was always pointed out that he had “personal views” on the subject of coronavirus.

Sönnichsen had been critical of the measures of the Austrian government in the fight against SARS-CoV-2 several times for months. He also questioned the effectiveness and safety of the vaccines. He is also a member of a group of doctors critical of vaccinations in Austria.
Even with one press conference On Tuesday of this week, to which Sönnichsen was invited by FPÖ boss Herbert Kickl, the doctor repeated his criticism. Sönnichsen, for example, who said he could never have imagined appearing at a press conference of the right-wing FPÖ about two years ago, complained that freedom had been lost as a result of the government’s corona measures. He also doubted whether the measures made sense, above all a lockdown and vaccination away from risk groups.

At the FPÖ event, the doctor stated that he appeared as a “concerned citizen and concerned scientist”. Accordingly, he observed and experienced that in recent months “freedom has been increasingly restricted” – both that of “freedom of expression” and that of “science”. He appealed that the “scientific discourse” is what “brings us forward”. In the last year and a half, however, he has experienced “a massive lack of scientific discourse”.
One is no longer ready for discussion, so Sönnichsen, too member of the German party should be the basis, which repeatedly and publicly criticizes the corona measures imposed and the vaccination against the SARS-CoV-2. According to Sönnichsen, “scientific dogmas” have recently been established that are considered “irrevocable”.
