Based on the Omikron variant, further contact restrictions should come into force no later than December 28th. This is what Chancellor Olaf Scholz said after a video conference between the federal government and the state leaders. The phrase “at the latest” allows countries to introduce restrictions earlier.
From this date onwards, meetings of a maximum of ten people should be allowed, even for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered. Only children under the age of 14 are not counted. Self-tests are recommended for private meetings.
Clubs and discos will be closed and dance events will be banned. This means that New Year’s Eve celebrations are largely impossible.
In the retail trade, by a decision of the federal state, 2Gplus can also be introduced instead of 2G, which means that vaccinated and convalescent people have access, but only with a current negative test.
National cultural and sporting events should take place from the 28th without an audience. This applies at least until the next federal-state round on January 5th, 2022.
The contact restrictions for unvaccinated persons remain with a maximum of two people outside their own household. The workplace can still only be entered with a daily test.
