Algeria won the Arab Football Cup for the first time in its history after beating Tunisia 2-0 after extra time in an exciting and violent summit in front of more than 60,000 spectators on Saturday.
Substitute Amir Said opened the scoring with a huge shot from outside the penalty area in the 99th minute, after a pass from Baghdad Bounedjah.
Veteran Yassine Brahimi added the second goal at the end of stoppage time for extra time, after he took advantage of the Tunisian goalkeeper’s exit from his own net to participate in a corner kick to bounce the ball to the Algerian player, who sped from the middle of the field towards the empty goal.
Qatar occupied third place earlier, after winning the penalty shootout over Egypt, and after a 0-0 draw.
