The Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority in Saudi Arabia launched the “Literature Everywhere” initiative, which aims to provide literary content to all members of society in public places and waiting halls, through readable and audio media, based on the factor of sustainability and serving the private and non-profit sectors.
The authority explained that the initiative includes two main tracks, the first of which is “Q. Q.” To present the short story to the general public in an innovative way by making the short story platform available in public places, and making it accessible to everyone through a response code linked to the platform, including an electronic library containing a large collection of short stories.
As for the second track of the initiative, it is entitled “Literature Cloud”, and it will provide literary audio content “podcasts and audio books” in both Arabic and English in public places where the visitor spends at least 15 minutes, by facilitating access to a digital platform that includes a variety of audio-literary content in all regions. Fields of literary knowledge, with modern templates implemented in cooperation with local and international partners.
These reading and audio options will be available to the public in public parks and waiting areas in Riyadh, Jeddah, and the Eastern Province, provided that they will be available in the second phase of their launch in the means of transportation and taxis to listen to literary content during the trip, while the third phase will witness an expansion For the initiative at the level of all regions of Saudi Arabia.
The “Literature Everywhere” initiative represents part of the efforts of the Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority aimed at promoting the culture of reading and making it a lifestyle for all members of society, with what this includes from the publication of literature, stories and books by Saudi creators on the widest public scale, in support of the spread of Saudi writers, publishers and translators. And to expand the publishing vessels of the final beneficiary in line with the needs of the market.
