The Egyptian Mohamed Salah continued to make history with his Liverpool team in the league championship, after he scored a goal during the red team’s 3-1 victory over its guest Newcastle United, on Thursday in the seventeenth round of the competition.
With this goal, Salah was able to equal the record for the most scoring or assisting player in 15 consecutive Premier League matches with Jamie Vardy, who achieved the same feat when he led Leicester to crown their only Premier League title in the 2015-2016 season.
On the other hand, Newcastle, who suffered its ninth loss in the championship this season, with one win and 7 draws, stuck at 10 points in 19th place.
Newcastle advanced with a surprise goal signed by Jongo Shelvey in the seventh minute, but Portuguese Diogo Jota equalized for Liverpool in the 21st minute.
Salah gave Liverpool the lead, scoring the second goal for the hosts in the 25th minute, to continue flying as the top scorer in the English Premier League this season with 15 goals, a full 6 goals ahead of his closest pursuers Jimmy Vardy, Leicester City striker, and Diogo Jota, his colleague in Liverpool.
Trent Alexander-Arnold eliminated Newcastle’s hopes of at least a point, after scoring the third goal for Liverpool in the 88th minute.
Liverpool, who continued his awakening by achieving his twelfth victory in the competition this season and the sixth in a row, rose to 40 points in second place in the championship standings, tightening the screws on the defending champion Manchester City, who is at the fore, after reducing the difference with him to one point.
