Manchester City consolidated its position at the top of the English Premier League by defeating its guest Leeds United 7-0 on Tuesday in the seventeenth stage.
In another match in the same stage, Aston Villa beat Norwich City 2-0.
At the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City defeated Leeds with three goals in the first half and four goals in the second half.
City raised its lead to 41 points from 17 games, four points ahead of its closest rivals, Liverpool, who played 16 games. Leeds’ balance stopped at 16 points in 16th place.
Phil Foden opened the scoring for City in the eighth minute, then Jack Gralich added the second goal in the 13th minute, followed by Belgian Kevin De Bruyne, who scored the third goal in the 32nd minute.
In the second half, Algerian Riyad Mahrez scored City’s fourth goals in the 49th minute, then De Bruyne scored his second goal and the fifth for the hosts in the 62nd minute.
John Stones scored the sixth goal for City in the 74th minute, and only four minutes later, Nathan Ake scored the seventh.
At Carrow Road, Aston Villa continued their revival under coach Steven Gerrard and beat Norwich 2-0.
Jacob Ramsey scored a goal in the 34th minute, then Ole Watkins added the second goal in the 87th minute.
The win raised Aston Villa’s balance to 22 points in ninth place, and Norwich’s balance stopped at ten points in last place.
